Intake Clinician/ Outpatient Behavioral Health Therapist

Leslie “Danielle” Masters has been a part of the Youth Crisis Center’s Outpatient Department as the Licensed Intake Clinician/ Outpatient Therapist since December 2017. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Louisiana State University, Alexandria and a Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Troy University in Dothan, Alabama. 

 

 

Prior to moving to the Jacksonville area with her family, she began her Clinical Internship at Bridgeway Center in the Florida panhandle where she provided Outpatient Counseling to adults with a variety of mental health and substance abuse related concerns.  Once she received her Master Degree, she was hired as a Family Care Unit Specialist and worked in a collaborative effort with outpatient providers and with the Department of Children and Families, and Family First Network to provide mental health and substance abuse evaluations, recommendations and case management services for adults, children and their families referred by the department. She also facilitated Nurturing Parenting groups. Once she received her licensure she was promoted and worked as a Comprehensive Behavioral Health Assessor working with children and adolescents from birth to 17 and their families in order to evaluate and provide specific recommendations about mental health and related needs which helped to guide recommendations in the family’s reunification plans.

 

 

Danielle has always been passionate about working with youth and their families. Her experiences have afforded her the opportunity to provide quality counseling and social services in a variety of settings to include, the community, outpatient, schools and jail setting. Her counseling orientation encompasses a positive, eclectic and strength-based approach.   She uses a variety of modalities based on the needs of the client which incorporate best practices from Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused, Brief Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing and Psycho educational. She values providing others with a genuine authentic relationship, as she believes that through understanding, acceptance and encouragement people are able to be provided with hope and a path where healing can begin and goals can be accomplished. Danielle has experience in counseling, case management, evaluations and diagnosis. She is certified in Florida CANS Mental Health, Florida CANS 5+, and CANS Florida 0-3.   Danielle has been a licensed practitioner in the state of Florida since November of 2016.
