Stepheny Durham joined the Youth Crisis Center team in 2012 as the Director of Residential Services.

Durham has over 30 years of experience serving troubled youth and families that have faced trauma, displacement or have run away. A native of Jacksonville, he graduated from Terry Parker High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, earning the title of Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO). Durham held various leadership positions with Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF).

After his time with the Marines, Durham returned home to Jacksonville, where he began working with the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) as a detention care worker in a secured facility. He progressed with DJJ to managing five counties, becoming a Master Protective Action Response (PAR) instructor, and eventually, Superintendent of the St. Johns Regional Juvenile Detention Center. Durham then became Superintendent of Duval Regional Juvenile Detention Center while serving on multiple youth-focused committees, counsels and boards, including the Gang Task Force.

During Durham’s commitment to a full-time, 25-year career, he simultaneously worked 12 years as the manager and trainer in a local residential group home.
